I got into the Eagles for a while in my early 20s because my mom was a fan, but also because it was shortly after their Greatest Hits and Hell Freezes Over came out. I didn't listen to a record of theirs until I bought Hotel California. Admittedly, I have not listened to Desperado (the album) yet. Although I've heard Doolin' Dalton several times. I'll have to check this out. I've always preferred Frye's vocals to Henley's. Most of my favorite songs of theirs are sung by Frey.
It’s a phenomenal album, I’ll have to listen to Hell Freezes Over too! I know their Greatest Hits record is highly regarded as one of the best classic rock albums of all time but I’m always a little skeptical of greatest hits albums, I’d typically rather listen to the OG releases first
My teenage and early 20s were spent trying to get a flavor of 60s/70s through a lot of greatest hit albums (late 90s/early 00s). I wish I had the access to albums now through streaming like I did back then. There was only so much memory available on my PC to pirate using Napster/Livewire back then. So even then I was compiling the hits and not the albums.
I love your diverse taste in music 😎. I’ll be checking out some of those I’m not as familiar with - thanks for the post!
